Freedom from smoking: Integrating hypnotic methods and rapid smoking to facilitate smoking cessation

What you need to know:

  • A rapid approach was tested through hypnosis rather than an extended multiple session program.

  • Of the 43 people hypnotized to quit smoking, 39 remained free of hypnosis at the conclusion of the study.

  • While many people who try to stop smoking on their own crash and backslide after a week or two, 90.7% of those who were hypnotized were still smoke-free during checkpoints ranging from six months to three years later.

Guided Health Imagery for Smoking Cessation and Long‐Term Abstinence



 

What you need to know:

 

  • An extensive blind study was performed in which 71 people were given the task to quit smoking. 38 were hypnotized to quit, and 33 were in the control group.

  • All of the participants received educational coaching to assist in their stop smoking, while the hypnosis group practiced hypnotic imagery to support their goal.

  • After a two-year period, the hypnosis group was twice as likely to have remained free of cigarettes, and hypnosis was proven to be “an effective intervention for long‐term smoking cessation and abstinence in adult smokers.”

  • Research by The New Scientist Magazine (1992) has shown hypnotherapy to be the safest and quickest way to quit smoking. People were six times more likely to quit with one session of hypnosis and remain non-smokers over 12 months after their session, compared to those who used Nicotine Replacement Therapy, such as patches or gum.

Cancellation Policy

Appointment Cancellation

Please contact Atina Kalustian via email on info@akhypnotherapy.com as soon as you know you will not be able to make your appointment. If cancellation is necessary, we require that you call at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. You may schedule another appointment, via our website at no extra cost.

Late Cancellation/Missed Appointments

A cancellation is considered late, when the appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours before the appointment time. A missed appointment is when a patient misses an appointment without cancelling. In either case, we will charge the client 50% missed appointment fee. If you are a new client, on your first appointment a missed appointment or late cancellation will result in a full charge of the appointment fees.

Late Arrivals/Other

If you are late for your appointment we will still need to finish by the allotted time. If you arrive for treatment under the influence of mind-altering drugs or alcohol, the session will be suspended, and the full fee charged. Further sessions will be at the therapist’s discretion and may be cancelled permanently. I reserve the right to cancel therapy at any time and to refuse prospective clients at my own discretion.
